Mirror Mirror In the Pocket

There hasn’t been a better time as this era where humanity was so blessed, blessed with greatest gift possible, the gift of free access to knowledge and wisdom (The Internet). It might sound funny but the Internet is one of the things I’m grateful for in my morning prayers. It is the true ‘mirror mirror on the wall’ at our fingertips. Solutions to most of our physical, mental and spiritual problems are a click away. It’s truly the reincarnation of the great Library of Alexandria, it’s the closest thing we have to the manifestation of the all-knowing God’s character of Omniscience.

It’s both a gift for those with dreams and yet a curse for the ignorant. And it is sad to see It being used as a vent of anger, as a vehicle of hatred, a storage of rubbish thoughts. It’s sad to see it being used as a battlefield of false abstractions (ego, race, religion, stereotypes…) of the mind that barely contribute to our wellbeings. As a matter of fact, it has become a kiosk of hopelessness, It has become a gallery of wickedness where ignorant people proudly flaunt their inner ugliness. We have become serial killers, killers of people dreams and hopes (I’ve come across people contemplating of leaving the country). We slaughter many into depression on a daily basis. As Superheroes create Super villains the era of information has also brought about an era of the epitomy of ignorance where stupidity has the same level of access to the community as knowledge.

We, the ‘elites’, need to re-evaluate our so-called ‘knowledge’. We need to question how wrong we understand almost everything.

How wrongly did we understand FREEDOM, how were we able to interpret the meaning of freedom of speech as “Freedom of Hate Speech”… how come we boldly hate people we barely know in the name of freedom of speech while being oblivious to boldly loving those we do know and love.

How wrongly did we understand KNOWLEDGE, how were we able to interpret the meaning of information as Misinformation and Ignorance… how come we take pictures of dead people and spread it in the name of access to information while being oblivious to fixing our own and our families basic day to day problem through the use of information.

How wrongly did we understand LOVE, how were we able to interpret the meaning of love as Justified Hate… how come we hate people and call it love because they hate\hurt the people we love. How can that make us any different than the people we say are wrong.

How wrongly did we understand IDENTITY, how were we able to interpret the meaning of identity as alienation, as a way of classifying US and THEM, rather than a node of integration. how come we defend the bad people in ‘OUR’ circle and attack the good people in ‘THEIR’ circle.

How wrongly did we understand Justice and Forgiveness, how were we able to interpret the meaning of justice as vengeance, rather than reconciliation.

How wrongly did we understand LIFE itself, how were we able to interpret the meaning of life as dying for something we believe in, rather than living for something we believe in.

We need to do some house cleanup. Let’s question our wisdom. Let’s dwell on the tangible (our passions and our purposes, our dreams and aspirations) and forget the social abstractions (freedom, politics, race, religion, identity, justice…). WE MADE THESE abstractions meaning We can change them anytime, meaning we can make something else, something better. Only the weak and the ignorant dwell on intangible thoughts and stereotypes. We need to stop using these abstractions as an excuse to hide from ourselves, our dreams. We need to unlearn them, we need to unlearn lots of things and seek truth in accordance with our positive progress and wellbeing. Let’s break the cycle of being a ‘hyphenated intellectual’. Let US walk the talk. Let us NOT be the insensitive doctor, the greedy preacher, the rude server, the lazy builder, the ignorant teacher, the arrogant leader, the monster human. Let’s seek knowledge for the sole purpose of making our lives better. If we think we Know better then we have the obligation to understand those who we claim to know less since To Know is to Understand.

Let’s walk towards the Light, let’s Love, let’s Laugh, let’s Live.
